Wash, Clay, and Wax Aftercare Instructions
Congratulations on your newly perfected and protected vehicle!
You've just invested in a professional wash, multi-stage paint correction, and a durable wax application. To ensure your vehicle maintains its stunning appearance and the wax provides maximum protection, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.
Immediate Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours):
- Avoid Water: For the first 24-48 hours, try your best to keep your vehicle dry. This allows the wax to fully cure and bond with the paint.
- If it rains unexpectedly, don't worry too much, but try to blot dry any standing water with a soft, clean microfiber towel as soon as possible.
- No Washing: Do not wash your vehicle (even with water) for at least 7 days. This is crucial for the wax to achieve its full hardness and durability.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals/Contaminants: Steer clear of bird droppings, tree sap, and bug splatter during this initial curing phase. If they occur, gently remove them as soon as possible (see "Spot Cleaning" below).
General Maintenance (Ongoing):
Washing Your Vehicle:
- Frequency: Wash your vehicle regularly, ideally every 2-4 weeks, or as needed based on driving conditions and exposure to contaminants.
- Method:
- pH-Neutral Car Shampoo: Always use a high-quality, pH-neutral car shampoo specifically designed for ceramic-coated or waxed vehicles. Avoid harsh detergents, dish soap, or shampoos with added waxes or polymers, as these can degrade the wax.
- Gentle Wash Mitt: Use a soft, clean microfiber wash mitt or a lamb's wool mitt.
- Wash Top-Down: Always wash your vehicle from the top down, rinsing thoroughly as you go.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse all soap off completely to prevent water spots.
- Drying: Use a dedicated, clean, and plush microfiber drying towel or a car dryer/blower to dry your vehicle. Never let water air dry on the paint, especially in direct sunlight, as this can lead to water spots.

Things to AVOID when washing:
- Automatic Car Washes (Brush-Style): Absolutely avoid automatic car washes that use brushes. These are notorious for causing swirl marks and scratches, even on protected surfaces. Touchless car washes are generally safer but may not clean as effectively.
- Harsh Brushes/Sponges: Never use household brushes, abrasive sponges, or anything that could scratch the paint.
- Degreasers/Solvents: Do not use harsh degreasers, wheel cleaners (unless specified as wax safe), or industrial solvents on your vehicle's paint.
- Wax/Sealant Toppers (unless specified): You typically do not need to apply traditional waxes or sealants over your wax. If you wish to add an extra layer of gloss or hydrophobicity, use a ceramic wax-compatible "booster" or "topper" spray. Consult us for recommendations.
Spot Cleaning:
- Bird Droppings, Tree Sap, Bug Splatter: These contaminants are acidic and can etch into your paint if left on for too long, even with wax protection. Remove them as soon as possible.
- Gently spray the area with a quick detailer or a dedicated bug/tar remover (ensure it's safe for ceramic coatings).
- Allow it to soak briefly, then gently wipe away with a soft, clean microfiber towel. Avoid scrubbing.
- Tar/Asphalt: Use a dedicated tar remover designed for automotive paint. Follow product instructions and rinse thoroughly afterward.
Maintaining Hydrophobicity & Gloss:
- Your wax is designed to provide excellent water beading and gloss for an extended period.
- Over time, environmental factors can slightly reduce the wax's hydrophobic properties. If you notice a decrease in water beading, you can use a spray wax-compatible "booster" or "maintenance spray" after a wash to rejuvenate the surface.
- Avoid using abrasive polishes or compounds on the wax unless specifically recommended by us for a specific issue.
Important Notes:
- Waxes and Sealants are not invincible. While they provide excellent protection, it is not going to protect from deep scratches, rock chips, or extreme neglect.
- Regular Inspections: Periodically inspect your vehicle's paint for any new contaminants or signs of wear.
- Professional Maintenance: We recommend professional decontamination washes or wax re-applications as needed, typically every 9-12 months, depending on your driving habits and environmental exposure. Contact us to schedule.
